HF/PE manager analyst exit ops

What are the exit opportunities for a hedge fund and/or private equity manager analyst at a FoHF/Institutional Investor/RIA?

Can you ever go to the equity buy side of a hedge fund? Or are you stuck in the alternative asset manager evaluation space?

It's tough to make a switch. From FoF you can go into marketing/biz dev at funds or a placement agent. You could also join an LP, like a pension, endowment etc or a family office.

To make you'll have to really network, hope something pops up, and get people to like you. And do your homework on stock picking/analysis. You won't be able to compete with the army of ex bankers, pe types on technical stuff sicne they do it all day long in and out (I'm mainly talking about excel and the finer points of modelling).

On the plus side you'll have all the names and contacts, so if you are young, hungry, resouercful and fearless you can get in front of a lot of people.

Good Luck

I used to do Asia-Pacific PE (kind of like FoF). Now I do something else but happy to try and answer questions on that stuff.
