Hi, I'm Brian Hibbs
Hi, I'm Brian Hibbs, introducing myself because it was recommended I do so.
Right now I'm a student starting the PhD in economics program at West Virginia University. I just finished my undergraduate classes at IUSB in April.
I'm here because my only work experience has been a brief internship at a regional bank and a few low end service jobs.
I've already published some economic research but I'm not sure if I want a career as an academic, and in general I'd like to diversify my education and attain more practical skills outside of my mostly theoretical knowledge.
Frankly I don't know if a tenor track position would even be available for me because many universities have been switching to temporary and lower paying adjunct positions. I doubt this trend would stop when I've got my degree, in fact it will be worse as the economy picks up since demand for education is generally counter cyclical.
So of course I'm hoping to prepare myself for something in finance or consulting.
