How Do You Respond To Praise About Your Work?
I hate any kind of attention and I don't know how to respond. Curious to know what would be a good answer when someone says: you are so on top of your work or you are getting good at this or this looks great - thanks for all the work?
Sometimes I feel saying thank you is not enough? How do I get over this awkwardness?
"Thank you."
"Thanks daddy"
Actions speak louder than words. I would suck their dick if I was you.
Fire comment brotha, LOL'd at this
Just acknowledge the recognition.
The feedback you really want is when something isn't great work or as expected. Try to solicit that type of feedback.
Take on an expanding role, anticipate what comes next and try to solve unforeseen issues.
You will never get better if you don't get feedback on where you could improve.
I thought exactly like you. I've always ignored positive feedback and asked for feedback on things I did badly. But research actually points in the opposite direction. The path to exceptional performance is relatively short if you double down on the things you do well (insert reference to a sports person). But it's very difficult to become exceptional at something you're bad at. Most likely you'll waist your time attaining mediocre performance. Interesting read, thanks!
You sound like the sociopath at the office trying to justify his behaviour. I agree that having areas improvement pointed out can be helpful, but it's a balance and requires trust between both parties.
Nothing worse than working really hard on some materials while you are getting slammed in general only for X to harp on some minor formatting error or something. Maybe my one of my associates was just a dick, fortunately he left.
“Thank you, glad we could [complete the transaction / submit the deck / finish the analysis]”
I understand what you're talking about OP. I've tried different responses, but a thank you or glad I could be helpful, is best. My experience of saying more is being viewed as not listening.
"Thanks"
"Thank you"
"I appreciate it"
"Happy to help"
“Thank you”
Then proceed to email india team and say thanks for the help they did on 90% of the work i submitted
So relatable!!
