Not sure about the BBs but generally speaking cash mgmt is either a backoffice group that deals with wires/SWIFT etc or a treasury function, called the cash desk. Neither would have any contact with IBD.
any other thoughts?
No contact whatsoever.
Never worked with them. (im in IBD)
OP, where are you getting cash management from? That is an area in commercial/corporate banking. Deals with sweep accounts, lock box, account rec, etc. Nothing to do with IB.
Would the cash management team interact with the private bankers? Along those lines, would private bankers have interaction with IBD coverage groups?
I'm just trying to see how everything is linked together.
Stop rationalizing your offer and just accept it for what it is.
yeah if this is ur only offer, take it up, its a good start.
anyways cash mgmt is more for their Corp banking/ commercial banking.. not much/nothing to do with their IB grp..
cash mgmt just in terms of liquidiy, a lil bit like treasury dept.. (i've got a friend in this dept in citi)
I've got a SA IBD offer at a BB which I've accepted. It's got nothing to do with my offer. Just read an article on cash management and wanted to see how it tied into everything.
Cash management is exactly what it says it is, how a company manages its cash. The means to this end is through a variety of systems and products which a bank can offer.
You know when you pay a bill for cable or cell phone and when you mail the check it says PO Box XYZ? It doesn't go to a PO box, it gets routed to the bank where a huge machine automatically processes the coupon and check and puts it into the companies account. That is a Cash Management service/product.
Business credit cards, Brinks armored car service, sweep accounts, offshore accounts, etc all tie into how a business manages its cash and subsequent liquidity. Within a bank they will have a separate cash management department that specializes in just this. A lot of proposals, client meeting, etc.
