How does MBA asset management recruiting work for those who worked at foreign funds before MBA?
Basically the title. If the only long only experience you have is at foreign funds focusing on foreign markets, will that experience play any role in your recruiting or will it put you at disadvantage since you haven't covered local (US) markets? Secondly, is CFA all you need for asset management plus a top MBA? Because I'm coming from an accounting background and seeing mostly engineers in AM puts me off as it seems like they prefer those with quantitative backgrounds more. Is it true? Lastly, if I don't land AM gig at MBA and end up with sell side ER offer, can I later transition to AM after a few years?
Thanks!
