How Important Are "Leadership Days" at IBanks
whoops i actually realized i posted this once before in teh wrong forum... message actually focuses on trading
Hi,
I was wondering the general perception on the "leadership days" in ibanks where banks simply invite sophomores and juniors interested in summer analyst positions to the banks for summer analyst positions. You have to submit a resume and get accepted to go, but in terms of importance, does it really give you a boost during recruitment or is it more for you to learn about the firm. Or is it like a general on campus presentaiton, where it'up to you to make the most of it depending on how you network?
My specific situation:
I'm a junior with good specs (high gpa, good ecs) at a target school, and I had wanted to apply to this event. HOwever the event happened to conflict with a final that I had in the afternoon, so I ended up not applying. Fast forward a week after the deadline passes and the firm comes to my school for a sales & trading game. I end up doing very well and they invite me to the leadership day at the bank even though I didn't even submit a resume. Problem is, I could only stay for a couple of hours if i even could go, because i would have to leave in the middle of the day (so perhaps maybe only liek 2 hours). Is it even worth going to one of these things then? WHat is the usual thing that goes on? If it's mainly a presentation for the first two hours and then networking in the afternoon, I'd not want to stick around for only hte presentation...
thanks
