Not true. It depends on the firm, your performance, and sadly, how much your superiors like you. Maybe like 20% on the high end.

If you're talking about public accounting, I think lasampdoria is right. You get dog sh*t.

 

At the BIG4 firms, you'll usually see anywhere between 5% - 10% in bonuses on an annual basis as an Associate or Senior Associate. The level of bonus you receive will vary more as you move up through the ranks. There are some interesting one time bonus awards as well... For example, I think PwC pays a bonus upon promotion to Manager equal to 25% of your salary.

I'd imagine that outside of Public Accounting, the bonus levels with vary much more so.
