How the hell do you contact Uber?

Has anyone ever tried getting in touch with Uber? I've recently seen some questionable activity on my account (won't go further into details) and so I've been trying to reach them. There is literally no way to get in touch with them. The help email box simply gets dinged and is apparently not monitored. Any line I try has a voice recorded message before dinging me. And they don't have a form on the app or online anymore, which I was sure they had a few months ago.

It's almost like they've closed their doors for good. I went to Lyft's page to see if they are as bad, and they're not at all. They have a nice form you can use to send them a help email. I didn't search around for a phone number, but I'm feeling like if I tried calling them it wouldn't be nearly as weird and cold.

Is this normal for there to be strange activity on my account and then I can't contact the company? This is by far the worst service I've ever seen in my life. Has this occurred in other places?

Uber is dogshit and has been for some time. Their carpool drivers don’t even stop anymore. I tried summoning one the other day and he ran right past the drop point without stopping. I tried asking for help and they gave me $5 credit as consolation for the $5 “cancellation fee.”

Never using that shit service again.

Tweeting at companies is the best way to get shit done these days. Vizio just sent me a new remote the other day. I Tweeted 3M a picture of my wall with strips torn off calling their product dogshit and they're sending me some more. Which doesn't make their product not dogshit, but does illustrate my point.

Very true. Companies don't like dirt being public like negative reviews. Uber did give me a refund for a driver that didn't show up. They sent me a refund within a few hours.

Work hard, work clean, & most of all do not give up.

Just cancel the charges on your credit card. Tell your company they were not authorized.

Lyft isn't great either. Had a driver force me to get out in the completely wrong location. Lyft only issued me a $10 credit instead of giving me a refund. Thus, I disputed the charge from my credit card.

This. Had a few drivers wait for maybe 30 seconds - 1 minute, not call, start the trip, drive around the corner, and then cancel on me. I took screenshots and disputed the trip right away for credit. Apparently, they get bonuses for more trips, so some like to play the system this way. The key thing is taking as many screenshots as possible and being super detailed in your complaint as quickly as it happens.

General gripes about both Uber and Lyft:

  • Poor user experience overall, the app (specifically Uber's) is just awful
  • Drivers who are literally flying blind without the App, if I wanted to get lost while driving in a city I've never been to, id have just rented a car and done it myself
  • Drivers who try to game the system, see OttoReadmore 's comment above / hitting the arrived button early so you get a waiting charge tacked on / showing up in cars that don't match the in-app description of the vehicle

All this to say, it's still that much better than riding in a taxi. Fuck riding in a 20 year old crown vic, with some asshole taking calls the whole time, driving like a fuck, overcharging me with "airport start fees"/"charges per passenger"/"idle time fee", not showing me a map to my destination and then only accepting cash bc "boss, the machine is down you should have asked when you got in"

Absolutely. Lyft/Uber/whatever are all interchangeable. Tons of drivers drive for both. There's no difference in the product. I pick whichever is cheapest unless I'm traveling for work and don't care. Or if one app isn't working, etc. The reason it beats taxis is because of how cheap it is, and the rating system usually gives drivers an incentive to get you where you need to go fast and not be a douche while you're in the car.

As others have said, the only way to get in touch is related to a specific trip where you can claim issues directly in the app or the website. Uber's customer service is outsourced to literally the worst people, I had a general problem (my address wasn't showing at the right place in the app sending drivers to a place that didn't exist) and it was the most painful conversation ever trying to fix it. Ultimately, what did it was tweeting at the account Uber had for my city (I might have tweeted at the GM as well). But yeah, worst customer service ever!!!
