How to build up contacts and move to front office as an intern at back office in a Bank's Capital market Arm

Hi all, I am new here and looking for you guys help. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

Backgrounder: Finished my BBA/BCom at a non-target school (international) and doing my master in mgt/acct at another non-target.(I know it's weird to do my master in mgt/acct while my dream job is a front office spot at a bank) The reason I did my master in mgt/acct is because the program I enrolled is CPA-accredited which shortens my time to get a cpa (Canada). Meanwhile, I am doing my CFA and will sit for the level 2 exam this June.
Another reason i am in this program is because it provides me two 4-month coops (internships) during the two years. Right now I am doing my first coop at a big 5 bank in Canada, in its capital market arm as a financial analyst. I actually had interviews with two other positions which I am more interested: DCM and Fixed Income S&T but unfortunately there is a front runner for both. I doubt that my mgt/acct major hurts my chance because I know the offer takers are undergrads in finance.

Nevertheless, I cannot change my program or move to a front office job during the 4 month. I am a financial analyst working at Finance department for the capital market arm of the bank, so its more accounting-related. My next coop term is Jan-April 2015 so what I am doing now is try to network my a$$ off with people in the front office and hopefully get my resume in front of those "decision-makers". I have been familiar with some of other interns who work at the front office as well as a FT rotational person. Some offered me to forward my resume, which is good. I was wondering what else can I do to increase my odd? Would it be weird to reach out to an associate/MD/VP that I have never seen before for a quick coffee? I guess any front office so far should suffice as my current job is very back-office and 9 to 5. Not so much excitement honestly.

Sorry for the lengthy post and any thought would be great!
