How useful are career services/training programs really?

Hi guys, first post here. Any help appreciated.

I'm a first-year student at LSE. Trying hard to break into ibd, specifically m&a. Markets/sales and trading are not options for me as I find it stressful after trading stocks for a year - do not want my routine to be dictated by the markets. Consulting is also known for its hectic schedules and I dislike travel, would much rather just sit at my desk and stare at a screen. I've gotten a bunch of interviews for spring weeks but ended up being rejected from all of them.

I've been contacted by a lot of people trying to sell me career services and training programs e.g: Amplify trading and other career services that provide advice and networking. How useful are these programs really? (fyi they cost around 4k GBP) They market themselves with huge success rates in getting applicants roles in BBs and EBs. Should I be paying for one? Because if they actually work and can get me that full-time role, it's certainly not a steep price.

If you are at the LSE I don't even see why you are worried - the career services are well-connected in banking/finance, so make good use of their contacts & seek their expertise as to why you've been rejected so far. Maybe you need to work on you interview technique etc.

Strongly recommend you stay away from Amplify & other charlatans. Its all social media/ marketing smoke & mirrors. Places like that just want your money, they have no interest in your career progression.
