Hulu vs. Netflix vs. Other
Hey guys, what is the best option for selection in terms of movies and TV shows?
Hulu
Netflix
Other I'm not thinking of?
I live in a month-to-month basement studio apartment while I am looking to buy a place and it just has basic cable, so looking for some other options.
Thanks,
Patrick
Netflix has more shows and movies than Hulu. Also with Hulu you can watch the latest NBC, ABC shows for free just have to deal with commercial. So I say netflix is the best option.
There is also amazon video on demand and I believe Google just started their own as well.
Buy an Apple TV or the Sony HD box... in the case of the former you'll get access to Netflix and itunes for whatever you can't find on Netflix. With the Sony box you get Crackle, Netflix and Video Unlimited on the Sony Entertainment Network. It's great value either way.

you're welcome
hulu if you want to keep up with what current stuff it has netflix if you just want to kill time and have a list of shit you haven't watched

Hulu - New shows/Series
Netflix - Older movies/Documentaries
I prefer Hulu.
Netflix has a ton of cool documentaries and every episode of Mad Men. All streaming too.
I'd do Netflix...but I can usually find whatever I want streaming somewhere online. I use Amazon Prime anyways, so sometimes I will use that.
1channel.ch or surfthechannel ....your welcome
There really shouldn't be much of a decision., use both.
Hulu (free): Recently aired TV shows Netflix: Massive catalog of movies and tons of full series of TV shows
With Hulu, the free version is good as long as you can keep up with whatever shows you watch within 4 or 5 weeks of their original air date ( they usually keep up the 4 or 5 most recent episodes from shows). Netflix is amazing value as far as full TV series and (finally) decent movies go; definitely a must-buy.
Also, don't waste money on one of those "HD boxes" or whatever, just plug your laptop into your TV. Almost every laptop has VGA/HDMI out. Better selection, better interface, and negligible cost.
Netflix is amazing...like someone said, you can stream some content on hulu for free. Recently, I've noticed a huge library update in the streaming section of netflix...quality stuff there..will keep you entertained for months.
You can always go the route of illegally downloading (just saying). Now that that's out of the way, figure out which one has more of what you want to watch.
Hulu (free) has a shitload of options, though many of them have a 1-8 day wait before you can see the newest episode. The pay version I've heard is great, it just gives you access to shows sooner after the episode airs, and a few more shows. If you're deciding between Netflix and Hulu for TV, go Hulu.
Netflix is probably the better option if you like movies. I'm annoyed that they raised the prices so much, but it was bound to happen. Their TV selection is alright (especially if you like Law and Order). I think, to get the DVD service you have to have the instant stream service, too...
If you're willing to spend $16/mo instead of $8, I'd get Netflix. You get the DVD delivery service (1 out at a time, usually 24-48 hours delivery) and the streaming movies/tv service. If you're only willing to spend $8, I'd go for Hulu Plus
Oh, PS, Netflix offers a 1 month free trial and Hulu has a 1 week free trial, maybe check them out that way?
Amazon Instant Video is the best. I have an Amazon Prime account and there is a lot of free or cheap movies for streaming and best of all the movies are high quality. I also have a Netflix account, but the movie selection available for streaming is horrendous - a very limited selection and most of it is total crap. Sure, they have all the stuff with physical DVDs, but the streaming choice sucks. And their weird personalized website sucks too - they have like 500 subcategories, like "Critically Acclaimed Feel Good Documentaries" - WTF just give me a Top 100 list!
Awww snap, forgot about Amazon... thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
And, yea, I forgot to mention that I fucking hate Netflix unless I know exactly what I'm looking for. They definitely need some categories like: "most watched streaming TV shows" and "most watch streaming movies" and highest rated and sheit.
I'm not sure about you guys but Hulu is a prospective for broadcasting companies to only be available to people with cable and NetFlix is being beat up by RedBox.
