IB INTERN-How To Get The Return Offer
Hi all,
My summer internship is starting soon and I will be in the IB division at a top EB. I was wondering what you can do to secure the FT offer? I have heard the classic get to know as many people as possible and be intellectually curious. Is there anything else that may be more important? Also, who has the majority say if you get an offer? Is it HR, CRO, group members. As an intern should I try to get to know my CRO very well? any insight would be appreciated
As far as internal networking goes, HR usually makes the decisions but Associates and Senior Analysts are the ones who make the recommendations, so it's best to cozy up to the bankers. This might be hard given the slowdown in deal flow but asking for more work can also sometimes help.

Returns are usually based off of your group's decision and HR just has to sign off in an exit meeting. For summers just try and over-communicate without being annoying. Update your superiors often and they'll like you. Try to meet people if they let you into the office at some point or schedule a time to chat over zoom. As long as you show up every day, ask questions, and put out decent work product, you should be fine.
