IBM CbD vs. Grant Thornton Tech Consulting practice
Hi all, I recently received offers from both of these programs and am unsure which route to take. I'm looking for a place that will offer me the best experience and although I've already weighed out pros and cons of each, I would love to hear from the community. In terms of salary and benefits, both offers are roughly the same.
uhhhh as far as i know IBM CbD is decently well regarded and I wasn't aware Grant Thornton had expanded past accounting work into consulting tbh...
take that for what you may (its either my ignorance or theres a clear choice here- IBM)
IBM CbD from what I have seen is usually considered in high regard while you don't hear much about GT. I've met people in GT's practice and they usually recruit (PSU, Vandy level schools) and seemed nice. I think IBM CbD would edge prestige-wise.
I'd go with IBM. It gets a lot of shit on this site for being a technology consulting gig despite selling themselves on campus to students as a place to begin a strategy consulting career, but if youre alternative is tech consulting at a lesser known firm, this is prob a no brainer. IBM came in at #2 for IT Strategy and #2 for IT Operations Consulting by Vault this year (second only to Accenture in both cases), and is a top-notch place to work in tech consulting. Definitely the call over Grant Thornton which, while growing rapidly, does not have the same level of brand recognition and market dominance
