Including Interests/Hobbies on Resume??
I am currently in the process of tidying up my resume. I've seen some consultants include interests/hobbies on the bottom of their resume. Is this something that should only be included if it relates to the position?
I will be applying to Tier 2 & Boutique firms and the list of my interests include:
*Experienced Pianist
*Meditation & Mindfulness
*Powerlifting
*Freestyle & Downhill Skiing
Any thoughts would be helpful!
Hi coo12, don't worry, the WSO Monkey Bot is here.... I'm hoping one of these links will help find your answer:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
You should absolutely include interests. If anything the more irrelevant and unusual the better. In an interview I'd much rather talk to someone about their lifelong hobby of chasing African horn-toed frogs (and be more likely to pull them out of the resume stack) than hearing about their modeling skills. If you're equally qualified to the next guy, interests can be a standout factor.
You have varied hobbies, definitely make room for them on your resume.

When you're creating a resume, the most important information about you (such as your name, surname, schools attended, skills, experience, honours, awards, personal qualities, etc.) must be put on the first place. Although, if you also want to include some additional information, like your hobbies, you may do that but make sure this section is added to the very bottom of your resume (since it's the least important data in case of this particular document).
