how broad a reach will HHs take when approaching banking analysts w/ regards to product / coverage groups?  for example, if an analyst in an industrials coverage group was interested in infra PE, would they naturally have HHs for infra PE reaching out to them at the same rate as general PE, or would they have to more actively put themselves in that spot as compared to someone in a more infra-related banking position?

Quant (ˈkwänt) n: An expert, someone who knows more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing.
 

Depends on the fund, as-needed certainly, but a lot also have more structured intern and recent grad hiring processes, so they follow the more typical courting process. You need to be at a target, at a bank, worked on a file or two with them, bank bonus season followed by exit opp to the infra fund.
