Interview Timeline for offer - Lateral

Currently I am looking for some advise/feedback on how I should proceed.

I had a final round interview for a boutique IB analyst role on the week prior to Christmas and was told they wouldn't be making a decision till the new year. I followed up a few days into the new year and was told they should be reaching out soon. About a week or so later I've yet to hear anything... so I am wondering do I reach out again or wait.

My thoughts are that I am the #2/3 at this point and they are waiting to hear from the other candidates. I have had a few other interviews at company B since the final round, and was told I should be receiving an offer in the next few days from one of my interviewers.

Should I use that to leverage Company A to speed up their process? (Mind you I would prefer company A)

Assuming you are the #2+ candidate I think you can let them know, but that it likely won’t change anything. I imagine myself in their shoes receiving your email/call and deciding what I could change - do I tell #1 he now has a shorter timeline to accommodate you? Do I straight up tell you that you’re #2 and that the firm is waiting to hear back? I don’t see either of these happening.

On the other hand, if you aren’t #2 and rather they just haven’t made up their minds, you may spur them to a decision. All in all I think you just have to wait, and given you’ll have a week+ to decide on B you should hopefully hear back from A by then.

Edit: I don’t think that them knowing you have an offer at another bank will get you any points - while I have heard of people doing this for SA or other multi-offer situations, I think that it’s very different in a boutique scenario where everyone sat down and decided who they liked best.

Thanks again for the response - that's my thoughts. But I just wasn't sure if I should send them an email to let them know I do have another offer just in case they are dragging their feet and have yet to make a decision. Versus the alternative where I don't email them, wait for the offers expiration date and accept should I not hear anything.
