Investment Banker killed by bus becomes first Citi Bike Fatility

I've know these Citi bikes were going to be bad news. Whenever a biker is riding on the sidewalk...it's a citi bike. Whenever I almost get run over....it's a citi bike. For anyone who lives in NYC how do you like the "biking" culture. I used to ride a road bike but I would do so in traffic at the speed of traffic 20-30 mph, and I was very cognizant of the surrounding traffic. With DeBlasio making all these "bike friendly" lanes and getting rid of automobile lanes does it actually help traffic, and is a bike the most efficient mode of travel for a city of 8 million?

I bike to and from work every day. I'm a great biker but if I had to guess how I die, it's that. Only in the Loop is it bad. Mostly because of pedestrians and not cars. Have only fallen once ever and I've been riding for 2 years. A girl stepped out of her car with a box into the bike lane, I yelled at her and swerved out of the way, and she got started and swerved the same way. Ran into her with the end of one handlebar and it made me flip pretty much. Walked away with a couple cuts and shit. She was fine.

We have Divvy bikes here. Same shit. People who ride them are terrible. I refuse to use public transit though.

Public transit is a pain but biking is more painful.

Irresponsible bike riders.

Save biking for the trails or people who work in delivery. They need to follow traffic laws and don't - I have had plenty of instances where I am about to turn and a hipster lance armstrong comes flying into the intersection when they should've stopped. They act like anyone getting in their way is a big deal - even pedestrians.

The pro, does it everyday (rain, snow) and uses enough common sense to not get killed. They don't get pissed at other traffic and acknowledge it as a part of their mode of transportation. These people are genuine bike enthusiasts. I really do not mind them, as much. The Student, seriously cannot afford another mode of transport follows same road rules as the pro, just not as good. The hipster, this is the majority of bikers I see. A car has to cross the bike lane in front of them and they freak out for having to slow down. If you are too weak to get yourself going again then don't ride until you are able to do so. Tour de asshole. Please see hipster add in spandex and live strong bracelet. They travel in packs and annoy everyone. Take up 3/4 of a lane going 15 while cars are trying to go 40. Always a fat straggler and maybe one is in good enough shape to be wearing the spandex. If you want to be on two wheels and ride in a gang buy a motorcycle and join the sons of silence or hells angels.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

Cheer up, Bateman. What's the matter? No shiatsu this morning?
