He's always been a bit over rated, more of a super-star off the court than on it. Though Lebron perpetuates that worse that Howard, he at least puts up triple doubles on a bad night.

Howard needs to just focus on playing Defense and affecting the flow in the paint, he isn't a pure scorer like people want him to be and isn't going to put up 40 point games in the play offs, but is still an incredible person to have on the floor.

Never was a Superman, vastly overrated (even defensively)...and I'm rooting for them.

By the way, am I the only one who things that team looks better with the corpse of Jason Williams on court than Jameer Nelson?

I was really upset last year when Jameer Nelson came into the Play Offs late in the Cleveland Series and then automatically grabbed his starting role back against the Lakers. He was an awful defender and clearly not 100% mentally of physically, especially in when he didn't even close out Fisher's game winning three.

Nelson just is not going to develop into a top 5 point guard like Vangundy wants him to, and Williams should close out the play offs like he should have last year.

I don't see Orlando winning ring with Nelson at the point, he just doesn't have the it factor. They need to keep their eye on Chris Paul, he'd fit in well there and give them the best chance to get a ring in t he next 5 years....not sure what his contract is like right now though.

Williams, Reddick and Carter were probably Orlando's best players yesterday which is surprising. There's definitely a matchup problem with regards to Dwight Howard since he can't cover Perk (or Sheed) and KG at the same time.

Howard just doesn't fit in the prototypical franchise player mold. His inability to score from anywhere but right near the basket puts too much pressure on guards to score from the perimeter. Even with some of the best shooters in the league, that wasn't enough last year and probably will not be this year. If Carter were the player he was 10 years ago and Dwight Howard was 33, I think the Magic would have a much better shot at the title.

quote: "especially in when he didn't even close out Fisher's game winning three” Jameer cost them that game – and potentially, the series.

Howard just doesn’t play with focus and intensity for an entire game. He is still good and there is nothing wrong with 18/12/3 pts/boards/blks but I feel like he could get 24/16/5 if he tried harder and played smarter.

Dwight Howard is still Superman. Everyonce once in a while, Superman meets his match but in the end, he defeats his enemy. The orlando magic offensive strategy is to feed the ball to dwight and let him beast the paint. If you double, then they kickout to the three point shooters. Dwight met his match on sunday hence the breakdown of the offense. Like all superstars, he will figure out his mistakes and come through.

Let's not forget all the games dwight has dominated in the regular season and the playoffs. People are soo quick to diss superstars when they have bad games. They're human. What makes them great is that they figure out their mistakes and correct them.

Um...about Nelson? He put up 20 and 9 yesterday, outplayed Rondo, and almost single-handedly brought the Magic back into the game. He has been the Magic's best player throughout the playoffs and is definitely a top 5 point guard in my opinion. Yes, he clearly overextended himself last year late in the playoffs when he shouldn't have been starting. Yes, he put up quiet numbers in the regular season. However, he has stepped his game up considerably in the playoffs and deserves a lot of credit.

I'll have to watch him play in Game 2, though I'd have to say it's more rare for him to do what he did in game 1 than it is for him to do what he did in the LA series last year. Rondo is a much more consistent player, as is Nash, Parker, Rose, Paul, Crawford, etc.

No disrespect, but it would be hard for me to put him in the top 10 playing in the league right now.

No no no...Rondo outplayed him and only scored 8 points...the stats on Jameer tell one side of the story. I'm not a Jameer hater by any means, I liked him back at St. joes, but the offense just doesn't flow well through him. He'll get his 20 and 6 every game...but he's not a good defender and the offense just looks fractured with him out there.

They started their comeback yesterday when Williams came in and made the offense flow like water...and for some reason J.J. Redick decided to go crazy. Jameer wasn't the driver of that comeback by any means...I'm not sure if he scored more than 4 points during that stretch, he had that one nice putback. He also had that game killing possession near the end of the game while they were making their run and down by 4 where he held the ball at the key, let the shot clock run down, made some jerky move almost lost the ball and then took a horrible awkward shot that barely hit the front of the rim, in fact, he did that about twice in during that five minute Boston scoreless stretch.

To the poster above...I think you mean Rafer should have finished out the series last year, not Williams. This year it's Williams. Last year that pretty much cost them the title.
