Is this a good Freshman internship?

Freshman non-target monkey here. I got into better schools, but my family really couldn't afford to pay for college (my parents are not so great and have not given me any financial support in over two years) so I got a full ride to a big non-target state school. I'm following the template as well as I can so far - 4.0, high ACT score, full-ride, good volunteering experience, in the investment banking and investment groups (which place a handful of kids in IB every year) on my campus. I am also LGBTQ+, but I am not open about it because I do not want my family or anyone from my campus knowing until I am on solid financial footing. However, if being open about it were to open doors and help me secure interviews, then I would be willing to come out for the purposes of the diversity programs.

Long term, I want to do tech M&A at a BB. I got offered and accepted a paid Finance internship at a smaller Fintech startup for this summer. I should get a lot of experience with DD and M&A, and will hopefully get to work on a live deal. I personally think this is a fantastic opportunity to grow my skills and learn a lot, and I am super excited for this summer.

Is this a good internship? Am I on the right path? What should I be doing as a Freshman (besides hammering in my technicals) if I want to try to get a Summer 2021 BB internship?
