JP Morgan Public Finance

Hey guys,

I am interviewing with JPM's Tax Exempt Capital Markets (Public Finance) group for an Analyst position and wanted to know what its reputation is on the Street (in terms of best groups within JPM, best Pub Fin groups on Street etc.)

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Typically the number one spot in this market goes to Citigroup or UBS but JP is a big player. Other firms that are big are GS, Bear, ML, Lehman, & B of A. RBC is pretty decent too but of all these you have to look at what area of the market they target. For instance Merrill is pretty big on competitive underwritings which bumps them up the list but as a banking analyst you don't do anything with these so you want negotiated deals. Also, Bear and GS usually lead in average deal size in the muni market
