Just got off Brown's waitlist. Is Brown better than Michigan-Ross BBA?

Didn't see this coming. Pre-admitted to Ross, had mentally prepared to be in Ann Arbor last few months -- $150M new b-school facilities, Harbaugh, Big Ten sports, Go Blue!, etc. I get it, Harvard and Stanford are obviously better than Michigan, but seems trickier with Brown. I've been there and loved the vibe. But I also really love Michigan. Thanks in advance for insights.

My 2 cents are that you can't go wrong with Ross and you would be able to take more relevant classes, but Brown is more prestigious at the undergrad level and you'll have a better college experience with no trouble getting the same if not better jobs

Brown vs Ross out-of-state tuition: Brown wins those head-to-heads 10 out of 10.

Brown ($64K) vs Ross in-state tuition ($28K): Ross, unless your parents clear $400K per year.

As people have said really depends on the experience you want. Objectively Brown is a better school, it's an Ivy League school with a strong brand and great placement into all types of jobs. Michigan will be way more fun and you'll still be able to be successful from Michigan, but it will lack the prestige of Brown.

Visit both and see how you feel, I thought Brown had a nice campus and I liked the surrounding town.

Can't really go too wrong with either though.

The amount of competition from Ross to get into the coveted internships will be tremendous. At Brown, there will still be competition but much more diversity of interests. Plus, you'll have A/B/C/No Credit grading. You can find a party school vibe with the right group of people; not everyone is a stoner there.

I don't think getting sh*tfaced at 24 (6 home games per year) football Saturdays is worth foregoing an Ivy credential and living amongst the smartest peers in the world for four years.

If you have friends at big party schools (Big Ten, Miami, Duke, Tulane), go to Brown and just make sure you make time to visit them.

Eh both schools are reputable enough that the decision shouldn't come down to academics. If you are recruiting for finance, I believe Ross has a better alumni network in NYC than Brown but if you want to do management consulting that might not be true. Either way, given Brown isn't really a top ivy, it doesn't have any significant advantage over Michigan.

Pick the school you like better. You'll be able to get the same gig from either school.
