KBS Realty Advisors

Does anyone have any thoughts about KBS Realty Advisors?

It would be great to hear if anyone has insight into the following:

  • Reputation
  • Opportunities at the firm (growth opportunities/comp plan/work-life balance/the team)
  • Any instance where they came across them in a deal, etc.

Thanks!

I saw they have some positions open in Newport Beach so was curious if anyone had any thoughts...

I was wondering the same, I thought about applying

I think in the last cycle, they invested in mezz and senior debt positions of distressed deals. Competed against them on some deals. Interesting firm, worth learning more.

What is the position for within KBS? Acquisitions, AM?

They are a well known shop based in Newport Beach. They typically focus on Class A downtown CBD core assets across the US. They are extremely driven by cash on cash / NOI yields, and "what are we getting out of this investment from day 1" mentality. I am unsure if they do opportunistic investments. They were the LP on a few deals I worked on. I believe KBS typically purchases assets wholly owned and the GP/LP JV structure is not as common.

Good shop, and hands down KBS over cassidy turley, for any exit ops in my opinion.
