LND lateral A2
I will probably be gunning for a lateral next year for an A2 to London. Particularly interested in the top EBs (but probably Centerview / Lazard are completely out of my league; still would like to try as well).
Background: non-diversity, semi-target (Bocconi/St Gallen/WHU) with top GPA, good brand name exp (incl. BB/EB FO). Will have 4+ deals (€0.2-2bn range) under my belt with full-process exposure.
Should I spend time talking to HHs or just try to get some insiders to jump on a call (what level, probably Asso/VP, MD sounds like too much). Heard most laterals were referred, true or not?
What’s the deal with FCA? Is it possible this would be an obstacle? Should I wait for A2A lateralling or would A2 be doable?
What's the best way to approach the matter? I assume the sooner the better but would like to stay 100% focused on my current gig for now, when should I start getting people on the phone at the latest if I decide to give it a try?
Thank you.
up
interested in this as well. I’m transferring from US to UK. smh gonna be hard.
anyone?
@Pan European Monkey any idea?
Interested as well. What is your current gig? BB/EB/MM? What are the reasons you want to switch? Are you currently based in London?
Bump
Interested if you could post a follow-up: was you successful? Any recommendations for other juniors interested in lateralling?
I did exactly this a few months ago (now at a U.S. BB, only difference was I was already in London but at a boutique no one had heard of). For the BBs just apply online on their websites, for EBs reach out to Linear Partners (got me interviews at Evercore and a couple of other places) and maybe someone like Dartmouth Partners, PER, Stem7, KEA, Arkesden etc (basically the usual suspects). A guy from Edgworth Partners called me saying he was hiring for Rothschild, PJT and Barclays but never got back to me so I've no idea if it's true.
Edit: didn’t realise this thread was dead, whatever hope the advice potentially helps someone else
Thank you for posting this, really useful to hear a UK perspective on lateralling.
If you don't mind me asking, how much experience (both YoE and deal experience) did you have before lateraling and what were the interview processes like as a lateral hire?
PM me
Hey can I PM you on this? I interned in London in MM, turned down the return offer to work in the US and have regretted it ever since. I am working to get back to London.
One of those two firms is not the same
