Loafs
hey guys, any specific loafer recommendations for a FT IBD incoming analyst? i'm at one of the more conservative banks (BarCap, MS, etc) but don't know how conservative my group is.
to be honest i'm not really a fan of the horsebit, so i was looking at:
http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline/product_6507…
and
http://www.johnstonmurphy.com/product.aspx?c=1216…
obviously open to any other suggestions you have (that AE is pricey...)
Allen Edmond's are worth the money if you intend to buy a style you will hold onto forever (and I literally mean forever; due to the re-crafting option service they offer). Just make sure the style is a staple and suitable. Lighter colors can be dyed darker later on. Darker colors you are stuck with.
That said, you could save the difference in cost go J&M and have them resoled several times before before you'd ever reach the initial cost of a similar pair of AE... your call, but having worn both, I cannot tell the difference after broken in and I own several pair in different styles of each. A good shoe repair shop can preform the same service on any shoe brand for less, and its custom on the spot...AE's restorations are back to the original manufactured specs.
So...are these "the" staple style of shoes for an American IB analyst, or is there a better style the young wall-streeter should go with?
Happy- obviously you have no eye for detail....kidding. I wish I could find the Parks and Rec clip of Tom Haverford scoffing at Jerry's inability to distinguish between shades of black...love some Tom H.
You think this is black too jerry? hhahhahahahhha
classic
Either one looks good since, you know, they are basically identical.
I've got a pair of CKs from college that have lasted me quite well. Paid $80 from what I remember. I only wear them a couple times a week though but it's been almost 3 years.
Don't get Johnston & Murphy
