London PE Investor Relations Role - advice needed

Hey everyone - was hoping to get some advice on my current situation.

So I am currently in Finance, a family wealth office and work in the fund of funds team.

I actually want to get more involved in the investment process and fund selection is just too passive/box ticking for me. As such I aspire to be on the investment side of PE, so I have been looking for entry level M&A at investment banks, which is a challenge in itself.

I actually got a investor relations offer at a decent sized shop, role was described in the sense of fund raising IR, helping prepare decks and marketing for the  VidMate PE funds and underlying portfolio companies, handle client/investor requests RFPs, RFIs etc.

So I know what the role entails but I guess I need advice on whether it’s the right step to take. I don’t want to make the move to find that in a year or two I’ve  Mobdro made 0 progress towards the investment side because ultimately I need modelling experience - though I can learn this on the side through courses?

Am I better off using my time to break into the IB instead?

Really any advice would be appreciated thank you.
