Mantle Ridge Capital
Does anybody know about Mantle Ridge Capital? I keep getting asked to go interview there but not sure if it is even worth the time. Heard rumors that the guy starting it completely f****ed his only associate, there was a ton of turnover already, and can't get anyone to join. Obviously hard to know the truth lol so please DM me if you have any info.
Matt46, hey, look at the bright side, at least you didn't get a ton of monkey shit thrown at you...here is my best guess on threads that might be helpful:

You're welcome.
You mean the one run by Paul Hilal? I thought the sole purpose of that fund was an activist play in CSX to get Hunter Harrison (RIP) in as CEO? Oh and the 5 other directors but still doesn't the fund only hold one position?
Paul presented at a conference last year and gave an overview of the play.
Mantle Ridge is literally a SPV (special purpose vehicle) - long CSX. I'm not sure if they are deviating from that strategy, but i highly doubt it as thats a huge industry no-no. investors did not sign up for anything other than the Hunter Harrison play.
curious what they are hiring for.
I was under the exact same impression, which is why I am also wondering what they would be hiring for.
Maybe OP has the name of the wrong firm because I think the capital is locked up for quite a while.
Dynamics Associates contacted me over a year ago and I'm not at all surprised that he can't fill that spot. He seems to be a psychopath. He was raising another fund but I guess it hasn't happened.
Wow the stories about Paul Hilal are crazy. He didn’t pay out bonuses either so no thanks
What are the stories
At Pershing Square, the stories were how he was the incompetent middle manager who knew nothing about investing, with the personality of Donald Trump, that was forced to be tolerated because he was the founder's childhood friend.
Then he gets pushed out, starts his own business, and lies to the one guy working for him and screws him over - paying him nothing - literally no bonus - despite making a few hundred million for himself.
I am watching this closely because it is so interesting. The limited partner community is upset with Hilal for lying about Mr. Harrison's health during the capital raising process.
I have also heard about high turnover.
It would be hard to "not know" Hunter Harrison was bed-ridden and was using an oxygen mask. Surprised he didn't come clean with LPs beforehand. How lucky.
I don’t want to derail the thread but something I’ve always wondered - if you are an L.P. and you find this strategy and thesis attractive, why invest in the fund and pay 2/20 instead of just riding the stock in public markets?
From what I understand, an LP would typically have to sign an NDA with Hilal before receiving the pitch - such that if you want to invest in the security it has to be through him.
