Married Goldman Sachs bigwig arrested for rape

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/married-goldma...

Anybody know this charmer?

Also, if he is acquitted, will GS keep him on or dump him to avoid fallout?

I am inclined to agree with you on this. What was a 20 years old doing at a naked pool party anyway? I blame her parents.

As to Lee's future at GS, it really depends on how much of a rainmaker he has been for the firm. If he was bringing bread to the table then I doubt GS cares much for this incident, unless he gets convicted and thrown into prison. On the other hand, if GS didn't see much value in him then this would be a very convenient subterfuge for them to get rid of him without paying severance.

At the end of the day It is all about dollars and sense.

I was mostly joking. But seriously though, I would put money on it being a case of 'Girl gets drunk and fucks. Girl regrets. Girl cries rape.'

Or maybe that was her plan all along and she just wants monies.

Why would some big shot rape someone? Isn't that for losers who can't get laid or need to feel powerful over somebody?

The scenario I described is common and totally realistic.
And your comment makes no fucking sense. Plenty of women do devious shit and play the battered woman card for material gain. This guy's innocent until proven guilty. If he's guilty, then fuck him. But shitting on him just because he was accused is wrong.

Yeah I'd put money on it. Because the chances of some woman who knows she has a depreciating market value and no shot of getting wealthy on her own pulling something like this are way higher than those of successful bankers who could bang plenty of attractive women consensually, raping some girl out of nowhere. Do you think bankers at GS wouldn't consider the repercussions of rape, even if they wanted to do it? Do you think they'd be willing to throw away their careers for it?

Maybe they would. But I'd put money against it.

You know just as much about the case as I do and I haven't jumped to any conclusion. I'm entitled to my opinion and you can go give my cocker spaniel a red rocket if you don't like it.

We'll see how you like it when you have a pool party and the intern jumps you and then claims rape, demanding a settlement and ruining your career.

People need to stop blindly defending women. You want equality? You can fucking have it. Let's see the evidence. Until then, get the fuck off this guy's nuts.

Again, exactly why so many rapes go unreported. The first reaction shouldn't be to blame the victim, regardless of whatever BS preconceived notions you may have.

Nobody has been proven the victim yet. That's the thing you don't seem to get. Rapes go unreported because there's a small minority of people who are willing to reserve judgement until all facts have been presented?

I'm done here. Enjoy being a white knighting fuccboi all your life. Throw some virtual monkey shit if it'll make you feel better about your inability to objectively reason.

Where was the alleged victim slandered?

Do you know what slander means? If the guy's innocent, she's the one doing the slandering.

Saying I'd put money on that being the case isn't tantamount to claiming that this is the case. But give me 100 cases like this, I'll put money on that being the case every time, and I'll come out positive.

Look, you guys are getting really upset and defensive.
Rape is terrible and is never excusable.

I'm saying that condemning a man accused of rape by a woman who was at the naked pool party thrown by the man before evidence is gathered and a trial is had is also inexcusable.

Do men not routinely get accused of rape and proven innocent? What happens even more often is that innocent men are convicted of sexual assault because the woman is usually right in the eyes of the law. Does not the very legitimate possibility of this woman accusing an innocent man of rape exist?

Is it not messed up that this guy is fucked in all sorts of ways already and will be even more fucked in the future for something he potentially did not do? He's not been convicted and this story has been made public. Why is that even allowed?

Let's game theory this shit:

Accuse GS guy of rape and he's guilty:
Positives: Potential massive payout and guy goes to prison.
Negatives: He walks, but likely still pays a huge settlement.

Accuse GS guy of rape and he's innocent:
Positive: Still large possibility for a massive settlement. He still likely goes to prison.
Negative: Nothing. Some NGO will even cover her court fees, I'm sure.

Him:
Best case scenario in any case: No legal or financial punishment, but he's ostracized.
Worst case scenario: He goes to prison and his life is ruined.

If he did it, he deserves everything he gets and more. But this shouldn't even be public knowledge at this point.

"Victim" implies we already know the outcome of the case.

Any halfway decent lawyer can tell you this is a great way to frame the argument before any points have even been made.

"Accused" and "Accuser" are less prejudicial, more accurate.

I wonder if she was an SA? Maybe going to this party was a last-ditch effort to secure a return offer...

In all seriousness, this guy is innocent till proven guilty. Still, as we've seen with the public reaction's to a certain insurance underwriter's acquittal in Florida, innocence in a court of law does not equal innocence in the court of public opinion (the least rational of all courts).

My guess is he'll probably leave quietly and find work elsewhere.

Doesn't appear to be much info available on the situation. I don't think we'll ever know what really happened. The people really grill the guy in the comments section on the basis that he works for GS.

My guess, based on no facts whatsoever, is that his future at GS will depend on how strong his relationship is with management. If his fellow MDs or the board hates him, this is an easy way to cut him loose. Otherwise, he may get to stick around. The real problem will be his ability to continue to bring in business. Banking is obviously relationship driven and based on trust. If he showed up at a pitch would you award him the business over equally competent competitors? Personally, I'd likely take my business elsewhere or at least ask that he be removed from the deal team.

Pretty much agree with this. The guy had better get these charges dropped. Otherwise, in a role and firm where reputation matters, GS could easily engineer ways to give him the flick.

First of all Signore Bateman I have not actually started my jail sentence yet so I am still free to share my views to the world. Such as...

Naked pool parties are bellissimi (great). During my time as prime minister, I have hosted many in my life and have invited women representing a diversity of both age and ethnicity. Much fun was had and if you don't like that feel free to jump off the leaning tower of pisa.

Secondly, victim blaming is wrong and, Signore RustyFork, you are treading on the edge of it. While my GS MD friend must be presumed innocent until proven guilty, it is also wrong lump the same accusations on the 20 year old girl. Let due process take its course and avoid turning this into a "team zimmerman/team trayvon" thing. Shit was pathetic and represented the eternal stupidity of this nation.

Also, rusty, I don't understand your whole "pro/con" thing. If the MD is proven innocent, what would he be going to jail for?
