MBA to IM/buy side in different market
Questions for all IM or buy side professionals who went to b-school with the goal of landing a gig in a different market:
- Did you find job opportunities limited since you were planning to move to a different market after graduation?
- How did this affect the way you developed your network? Did recruiting become more difficult?
- Any reliable salary data on MBA grads working in IM in your market? Schools usually report salary data for location or industry, but not location and industry.
My goal: land AM role in Boston directly after graduation.
T15 schools report salaries between $130k-$150k for 1st year grads in IM, but I have no idea how much this is inflated by NYC/SF/other big market data. Would love to hear from any IMs in the Northeast who recruited from a different market. Cheers!
