Medical School to Biotech PE
I'm a 1st-year student at a mid-tier medical school with an undergrad biomedical engineering degree from a top 15 school. I'm realizing I don't want to practice clinical medicine for a number of reasons, and I want to go into PE/VC focusing on pharmaceuticals and biotech. For someone not coming from Harvard or Stanford med, is there a path for me into the biotech PE world? What can I do to get in, and what would that path look like? I plan on finishing medical school, but how much residency training should I do? If I can avoid paying for an MBA, that would be ideal too. If anyone has made this transition before or tried to, I would love to learn how you did it.
