Merrill Lynch vs Nomura Hong Kong
Hi guys,
Which one do you think stronger in Asia, especially in greater China? ML or Nomura? Which one has better reputation, larger market share, or more friendly culture? Where can I find information or evaluation of banks in asia? Thanks a lot.
BAML > Nomura.

Higher-ups at BAML are very well connected with the CCP...def BAML
Hey, thanks for the replies. It seems that Nomura has some big deals in 2009. How about the culture in these two firms?
What big deals?
Like IPO of Shanda Game. It is said to be the biggest US IPO in 2009.
Co-books homey - not joint bookrunner and also bookrunner of POWL tranche (Japan Retail Only)
depends on what job and what group.. but overall definitely BAML over Nomura... but again depends...
How about Nomura's consumer group and ECM group?
any retail/consumer related deals for hk 2009 nomura? how good is their consumer group
Consumer did a few big deals including KKR / OB and a bunch of other big ones .... ECM did a few large ones as well including MAXIS
This is not a hard choice. BoFA > Nomura.
BOFA,
from what I heard from peers, its kinda hard to rise in japanese banks.. they tend to favour their people more..
baml
What are the best groups at Nomura HK? I'm doing my final round with them next week
Both are just as bad as each other..
