MM Associate in Asia: is CBS worth it?
I am working at MM PE in Asia and was admitted to Columbia Business School last year (rejected by HBS and Wharton)
My post-MBA goal is to go upstream such as MF Asia offices or regional players (e.g. Baring and PAG). However, I'm not sure that CBS brand can help me achieve this goal as many PE professionals in Asia went either HBS or Wharton.
As my current company provides MBA sponsorship, I can comeback after two years in the worst case but I have to bear tenure freezing and opportunity costs.
So, if anyone works/worked at Asian MF, could you give me some advice? Any input would be appreciated.
BPEA recruits on campus. You would first go in as a summer then (try to) convert it thereafter. Not heard of anyone on campus going to PAG though.
are you CBS alum? if you are, could you please tell more about PE recruiting at CBS? I know the school has very strong placement in the IM industry but haven’t heard much about PE
PE recruitment is more enterprise than it is OCR. People rarely go to MFs straight out of CBS. If you are talking about Asia, many go off to Chinese funds. BPEA and SWF/PFs are other places I have seen people go to.
thx for the input. do you know any other asian mf/umm players? other than baring, pag, and mbk...
Outside China, I guess Affinity would be the other big player...
does BPEA only take MBA interns
Baring has 2-year associate program and also recruit post-MBAs as a senior associate
