Morgan Stanley San Francisco

Hi All,

I know the MS TMT shop in Menlo Park is very well regaded. Can the same be said of the groups in S.F.? MS seem to have the rest of their coverage groups (consumer, healthcare, etc) and a couple product groups such as FSG. (M&A is in LA- not talking about that group.)

If given the choice betweent MS SF and BarCap TMT in Menlo, which would you choose? I am going to assume the answer depends 100% on whether one wants to be in TMT or not.

Thanks.

First of all, Morgan Stanley's Menlo Park office handles only Healthcare (mainly biotech & medtech) and Technology (no TMT shit). San Fran handles most of the other cov. work (known as the "corp fin" group) in addition to their Financial Sponsors team (the only product group in SF).

MS SF does quite well, particularly their FSG group, but Barcap TMT is also a great opp. I'd ask to talk to more people with the group and see whether your interests lie in Tech or not. If I were you, I'd choose MS SF.
