MSF for VC / PE Placement Long-term?

Hi,

I am considering the pros and cons of doing a part-time, one-year Masters in Finance. My medium to long-term goal is to eventually work in venture capital or private equity, preferably aligned to the technology industry. I am wondering if this type of program would make sense for my goals, or if I should be considering an MBA, or neither.

A bit of background:
- Currently working in Corporate Finance for a large, top-tier tech company (think Amazon, Alphabet, etc.)
- Before this, I spent 5 years in Management Consulting at a top firm, with good track record of promotions (think next tier below MBB)
- I have a Bachelors in Finance from a well-respected, but not amazing university (think top 30-50 ranking, depending on the source), where I made average grades (think 3.0 GPA)

I would not have to take on any student loans to pay for the degree. My employer would potentially pay for a decent portion of the tuition (~40-50%), but it would take all of my free time and deplete my cash savings almost entirely. My reasoning for considering the MSF is for a few reasons:

-“Credentialize" myself from my so-so undergrad Finance background with a specialized degree from a more reputable university (for both short and long-term executive leadership positions)
- Learn VC / PE skill set (technical / quant. analysis, due diligence, modeling, etc.)
- Unlock network from a well-respected university

Please let me know if you think I'm a good candidate for the MSF, or if I should be considering something else. My main concern is if the time and financial commitment for the part-time Masters will really help me accomplish my goals to work in VC / PE long-term.

Thanks in advance!
