MS/JPM FIG Culture
Anyone have any insights into the culture for MS / JPM FIG? I know that GS FIG is one of the top (exits wise) but wanted to know how JPM/MS stacked up and how their culture was

Do not do FIG for exits, not easy. Would choose any other group outside of MS/ JPM FIG
JPM FIG has top tier exits, including to generalist MF, my guy
Can confirm.
JPM’s team is just massive (~100people) and you are focused on a specific geography so you’ll mostly work with a small sub-team. From the people I’ve met, they have very long hours as you would expect if you are in FIG but also party very hard. Didn’t hear bad things really from them.
Cannot speak for MS’s size and culture but happy to expand on GS if you want.

JPM FIG is a sweatshop, Moelis-esque in hours and culture
Must depend on which geographic coverage. Heard good things about culture in one in particular but hours were very long
Is Moelis still really that bad? Heard conflicting things from people, esp regarding the LA office.
JPM NY FIG is split into two or three sub-verticals. Big group and mixed exits. Have seen generalist placements at MF, UMM and MM PE. Also know ppl who have gone to industry specific sponsors, ARES/GSO type DL funds, Special Sits Lending and corp dev teams.
Bump any insight on MS FIG?

Interned at JP FIG. Pretty horrible culture (long hours + every weekend, terrible intern sponsors when I was there, lots of office politics, disingenuous people). Obviously, this is not true of all 100 people working there - just my high level observation. Ended up switching to a different bank...
That being said, saw good exits from their banks / spec fin group. Less so other groups. Guess its up to you whether or not you can "deal with the culture".
Would second this as well
Why is it that at every bank it seems the FIG group has the worst culture/longest hours?
FIG (not all vertical within) usually has the most “complex” models so as a first year you’re already struggling with workload as an analyst add the complexity = long hours
Also banks are known to be one of the most demanding industries. You see people in Treasury/non-FO jobs putting in 60/70+ hours at certain places.
MS FIG: c.50 people, strong group across the street and top fee generator for MS. You will most likely be working with a small sub team with a geo focus but you might have opps to work on other stuff too. In contrast to what's been written, exits are strong to both FIG / non-FIG stuff. SWEATY AS HELL.
Are you referring to NY or LDN?
