Need Advice - Three years out of college
I am about three years out of college, and for the past three years I have been an entrepreneur . I have been able to build a network of HNWI , Former Politicians etc. I have been able to work with the top tier of PE and IB. They have completed many deals in their career , however I was mainly based on a revenue share and many of the deals required extensive upfront capital investment and fell apart. But from my people skills I have been able to retain great contacts. I have recommendations from former finance ministers , Family Offices, i have joint ventures with Oil players , I took part in crafting reports for sovereign entities / presidents regarding monetary policy. Though I have done many interesting things , I cannot wait another 3 years to see the deals come to fruition. I have become master of the cold call you name a CEO or a leader of a nation I will get to them. BUT none of this is equating to tangible experience. For the past three years I have been taking loses , and my savings is near depleted. What should I do , where should I start, I need to hang up my entrepreneur hat for something practical , but it seems I can't get my foot in the door ,I have a BBA in Finance Cum Laude from a public school on top of that. I don't want to end up a retail manager or something. But I need to pay back my loans , and feed myself .
you sounds a little bit full of yourself. If your ventures were as good as you say you would be able to get your foot in the door
Credit is shot so FINRA related jobs are out of the question , I can get any letter of recommendation however the problem comes to mind is when interviewers ask , how much did I get paid ? What are my proven results ? Plus i had a run in with the law a few years ago , but that should be a non issue . I also do not live in NY Chicago , SF , or any major Financial Hub.
You have to see it from our perspective. You've painted yourself as an incredibly well-connected individual in the corporate, political, and finance worlds, yet you are unable to land a job through one of your finance ministers or sovereign entities. Something doesn't add up.
At what capacity did you engage with your network? Were you the guy who set up the meetings, or did you get down and dirty in the consulting/financial modeling details of the transactions? What exactly are your "hard" skills?
