Need new hearing aid for grandpa. Anybody have any experience with them?
Title is self-explanatory. Need a hearing aid that feels reasonably comfortable to wear, and does not have any noisy irritating buzzing sound that gets to the head. Any ideas where I should look?
EDIT:- I was actually hoping to get some idea of the brands that have a reputation of good products, and match the hearing aids to his old one's specification. I was hoping to get some insight from guys who may have been in a similar position to get hearing aids for themselves/loved ones.
FWIW, he's using an Oticon Swift 90 hearing aid. Looks pretty outdated though, technologically.
Most states require risk free trial periods by law on hearing aids so I'm not sure if there is a brand consensus among consumers since options are so diverse.
Well this is an impossible question to answer, not trying to be a dick but this is based on a host of issues that we don't know. It is highly subjective for the patient as well as very narrowed by his type of hearing loss.
I used to work at Sears Optical and our neighbor was Sears' hearing aid store. They seemed to know what they're doing and I doubt you'll find it much cheaper. If hearing aids are anything like glasses, you want to stay away from the private docs and hit up a Wal-Mart or Sears or whatever. You'll get the same product for way way less money.
They aren't, hearing aids are specifically crafted for a specific hearing pattern. It isn't like you have a prescription for your hearing there are almost an unlimited number of possible variants that you have to choose from. The technology options are huge and you need a continuing period of adjustments post initial application of the assisted hearing device. I dated a girl who was a MD in audiology.
The only brand I am aware of is Starky. They are supposed to be pretty advanced.

That being said, thanks for the insights goldie. As for heister, thanks for your input, though it really makes me wonder what exactly you talk about during dates and after sex.
FWIW, he's currently using an Oticon hearing aid (Swift 90). Looks pretty outdated though, tbh.
Well I never run out of shit to say during dates and after sex. I know so much shit about so many different things that I can talk intelligently on just about any topic. As for what I talked about with that girl well it obviously included some stuff about the industry she worked in.
Oh, how I admire and desire the ability to not only stand BS talk about work and personal interests during dates, but also contribute to the discussion.
Hearing aids are expensive AF. My 86 year old grandpa got one that was like 10 grand.
