New to the forum | Introduction and Advice Request

Nice to meet all,

I'm new to WSO, and will be brachiating deeper into the site in the coming months. I'm here for a reality check, but as I'm sure is the case, if this has already been covered I apologize in advance.

I'm a recent graduate from a non-target school as a biology major with a minor in finance. I was pre-med focused until my senior year, when I decided I want to go into IBD. My GPA is 4.0, but the only finance experience was a single semester internship as an investor service rep at a Boston-based AM firm. I'm heading back home to Thailand for 4 months for family matters, and was planning on applying for NYC IB positions while I'm there.

1) In your honest assessment, is there a realistic possibility I could land an analyst position at a BB/MM with no prior SA or internship experiences in IB? If so, given that I've already graduated, do I apply for FT or internship?

2) Could my background in biology prove any useful, say specializing in sell-side or buy-side for biotech/healthcare companies?

Not many questions I can think of right now, but wanted to say hi to the community. Please feel free to comment, criticize, etc., I would appreciate any advice.
