New York State is run by idiots

Fully vaxed and just traveled this weekend. Had a layover at La Guardia and saw the most ridiculous thing ever.

All Restaurants were closed "due to COVID". While all the food courts and bunch of stores were open. WTF?

Noticed that all the open places were run by big corporations and all the closed places were probably individually owned. WTF again? Got so mad at this BS.

Also saw bunch of NY state circle jerk ads about "how they're banning plastic straws for environmental reasons" all the while I saw plastic everything else (cups, containers, etc...) being handed like hot cakes. WTF? x 3. Fucking hypocrites.

Yeah I went to NYC a couple months ago and saw the same thing. All the family-run businesses were shut down. Meanwhile huge lines of barely masked, un-distanced people were forming outside of McDonalds, Chipotle, etc. It's a disgrace.

California, is far worse.

Life long New Yorker here. Really sad how many small businesses struggle to survive in this city for reasons mentioned in this thread. Adding to that, many young people would prefer to dine at a well known “brand” (even if it’s regional) than try the random deli on the corner - an aspect that’s overlooked and will continue to hurt small business unless the owners become internet/branding savvy. Just my 2 cents.

It's ridiculous to think that these are the same people who want "corporate oversight committes".

I know you'd rather get a coffee at Starbucks than go to your local coffee shop run by Jane living 2 blocks away.

That was the entire point. It was intentional.

The true theme of 2020 and 2021 has been the largest upward transfer of wealth in history in exchange for fake safety from a virus that was not a threat to the populace. Average age of death is > the average life expectancy in the US. This whole panic was a load of you know what fueled by the media and political elite wanting to use it as a cudgel against the average citizen and demand absolute obedience. And the disturbing part is a very large segment of the population totally went along with it.

My favorite is part is watching Fauci argue semantics to try and dodge the implication that he's directly responsible for sending funding to the lab that most likely caused the outbreak. The theory that the MSM was all over last year saying had been "debunked". Imagine putting the guy who funded the lab that undoubtedly caused the outbreak in charge of being the face of public health. Talk about conflict of interest.

Wilson | "If you don't have any enemies in life you have never stood up for anything" - Winston Churchill | "It's a testament to the sheer belligerence of the profession that people would rather argue about the 'risk-adjusted returns' of using inferior tooth cleaning methods." - kellycriterion

Why are they Biden voters?  Most of them are spewing conspiracies about the pandemic, thats mostly a Trump thing
