No name investment management firm
I have been made an offer to work at a no name, newly founded investment management firm.
If I take up this offer, would it help my mba application?
My understanding is that applicants from similar industries are compared against each other. Therefore working at this firm would not help me.
The industry I'm currently working in is very unique and interesting.
The lack of brand name won't help, but smaller firms can also give you more responsibilities than your peers at larger brand name firms. It all depends on how you spin your experience. It's certainly possible to get into a top program from a non-brand name firm - I will be attending an MBA business schools">M7 program this fall and currently work at a small no-name firm.
