I have gotten some conflicting advice and wanted to get more perspectives on making a move into private equity. I started my career in banking at a BB. After about two years, I left to go to law school. I recently graduated and I would like to get back into finance, specifically in PE.
What level jobs should I be applying for? Ive heard everything from AVP to analyst.

do PE firms ever consider hiring people from nontraditional backgrounds? i have a friend whose background could be interesting in a lot of industries but i'm guessing that PE would be too much of a stretch since they're dominated by cookie cutter / hardcore finance pros.
