Off-cycle internships are not usually posted and are conducted by smaller firms that are understaffed or top-heavy. They can provide you with a good experience and potential opportunity to get a FT position upon graduation. Sweatshops like Brown Gibbons and Lang do them bc they need someone to support their analysts. A huge pro of them is that you are the only if not one of the few people in the office. Cons is that you may not get a traditional intern program experience.

In Europe Off cycles are harder to get (assuming BB/EB firms in the UK), as there are around 1/6 seats compared with summers. Also competition is higher as there are people ranging from 22 to 30 years trying to get one. (Which doesnt make much sense),

Thats why the main pipeline is SA, as there are more seats. In most cases off cycles have already some previous SAs at other BB/EBs which makes it even harder for those without any experience.

^The opposite is true for the US. Keep in mind that BBs do not take IB interns off-cycle and opportunities are in sweatshops/small firms. Still good to get deal exposure and build a network
