Oil and Gas Trading Info
Recently accepted an offer with an oil/gas/electricity IDB in Houston, and I am looking to learn more about the industry. I am wondering what are some good books, magazines, or websites to read that will help me learn the basics of trading physical?
My only work experience in commodity trading was an SA role as a Gas Scheduler so someone else can probably give you better help. I'd just search a little deeper around these forums, there are some good posts already http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/blog/physical-oil-trading-basics-part-1-…
My firm used the ICE trading platform (https://www.theice.com/index), though the website isn't too educational
In terms of current events relevant to physical trading, most of the better sources require subscription, ie http://www.platts.com/
You could even ask your employer if they can forward you market reports or training materials

read oil 101, it's the golden book on crude.
All the IBD guides are there all have O&G specific packages, it may be wise to read up on them to sharpen up on some fundamental stuff like unit conversions and suchs.
Don't have anything specific for news but the usual WSJ, FT, Economist are a great place to start
