Oil & Gas and Nat Res in 2016

Hey guys,

I'm wondering what you all think of activity in this space in 2016. With oil prices so low, it seems like M&A activity should see a sharp increase this year. I'm in the process of deciding between groups for SA, so it seems like it would be fun to be covering this industry if action does pick up.

Thanks!

I'm bullish on it as well. Fracing is at capacity right now, but will be in demand for quite a long time as conventional plays are falling off. Drilling, I'd suggest looking at international guys that could be good takeover targets as there's just way too many rigs in NA these days, considering multi well pads and horizontal drilling.

Personally, I like services more than producers, but I'm also not an expert per se.

try google , Brent / crude oil/ WTI site: csfb.com or ml.com and sort by date

Note: I've not read any of them

Look around the EIA website. Assuming the focus will be on domestic production/ shale plays I would also look at oilandgasinvestor.com as they have a 7 day free trial. As someone who just started an internship as a energy research associate, the hardest part was and still is just getting used to the terminology and jargon in the industry. Know how to create a NAV model.
