Over-Networking?
Is it possible to reach out to so many people at a bank that you develop a reputation for being some sort of politician? Even if you reach out to people in a positive way (i.e., genuinely asking for advice and not pestering any individual too much), could reaching out to too many people hurt you?
Has anybody heard stories of this happening?
VERY curious as well
It's all about who you know, but I'm chatting up the whole building.....
yes, someone posted this on WSO a while ago. i remember it because it was a funny story. HR emailed him and basically said that the professionals are very busy people and that he should use the online application to submit his resume. this was a BB.
It isn't uncommon to have someone forward your email to HR and ask HR to "deal with you." If too many people forward your email to HR, you might find yourself in trouble or becoming a joke in the organization. I suggest you reach out to a few people and if they aren't responsive, then reach out to a few more.
Some idiot when on our company website and emailed every individual in our organization with a boiler plate email. Needless to say, no one responded and we all laughed at him. Dont be that guy.
Cold calling or emailing is not networking. If you go around emailing or calling everyone at a single firm you're trying too hard
