PE exit difference between Chicago and NYC

I was looking at LinkedIn and found much more people in Chicago, at the same or similar IB choose to stay instead of going to PE than people in their NYC office. I am lateraling to IB right now and wonder if NYC has a much better PE exits?

The Chicago PE scene is surprisingly small. Only a handful of firms with large classes (MDP, GTCR, BDT) and they're big enough that they probably recruit more from NYC than Chicago. A lot of people in Chicago IBD choose to be there for personal reasons so it would make sense they'd rather stay in IBD in Chicago than move somewhere else for PE.
