PE recruitment process in London
Fellow monkeys - have been lurking for a while on this forum but have yet to see this question answered comprehensively so i'm popping my WSO cherry. I am looking for more colour on buyside recruitment in London. I have landed a full-time offer at a BB in London after a SA stint so may be jumping the gun but thought some early education can't hurt.
Is the recruitment process for private equity the same in London as in the US and, subsequently, is most of the (very useful) advice on the forum appropriate?
It might help for me to be more specific - is it as accelerated as in the US? Do recruiters / headhunters contact you, or is the onus more on you to network your way into an interview?
Any advice / detail really would be appreciated.

MF recruiting fairly similar, but operates on a slightly accelerated timetable in the US versus Europe. In general in Europe, it's unusual to receive an offer from a fund and then wait more than your notice period (or until bonus paid if agreed) before joining the fund, as it seems is the case in the US. As a result, you won't be interviewing after 3-6 months of your first year as an analyst unless you would be leaving in your first year. This is based on a large number of friends who joined MFs.
MM is a lot less structured, more ad hoc and often the role will have a specific brief (certain languages etc.). Not uncommon to see people move to MM funds once promoted to Associate in banking either.
HHs will reach out to you, but always good to be proactive and ahead of the game.
