If one wanted to break into PERE would a bachelor's in real estate or finance be better?
Thanks!

Either is doable. PERE is going to be tough to break into right out of undergrad regardless, but there are opportunities out there. I majored in finance and after a few hours on A.CRE i performed well on the case study for PERE. Looking at resumes, majoring in real estate didn't really give an advantage over finance, other than it showed definite interest in the industry. Downside of majoring in real estate is it'll be harder to get a job outside of the industry if PERE doesn't work out.

Honestly both of those subject areas can be picked up on the job. Major in comething that is actually intellectually challenging and supplement that with club/ECs experience in real estate clubs, internships, and your own training through webistes like adventures in CRE and the MI real estate guide.
which side of the business do you want to be on? if AM is your goal, finance then a MRE after a few years. if its acquisitions, i have seen everything, you just have to be smart. could be finance, engineering, etc. but usually just undergrad degrees. if you want to be a developer, ive seen even more variety, from finance, to architecture, to poli sci. and maybe MRED. unless you are certain, go with a finance major and RE minor, spend a couple years working and get a masters in whichever specialty you prefer.
Philosophy is looked upon highly.
I think that the finance sphere will be greater for this aim
