Portfolio Managers in HF with no MBA
Given that i am planning to take a MS in finance at LSE and I've almost got CFA (4 years lock i know), is there any chance that i can land on HF with no MBA as PM? (or as analyst and then rising to PM) [as soon as my CFA gets available =)]
my skills (communicative, written, managerial, etc) fit the requirements but still i have this doubt.
What type of work experience do you have? It will be tough to go straight into a legit hedge fund with no previous experience. Your best bet would be to start at a bank and then make the switch. Also, what type of fund do you want to work at?
Almost no chance of being a PM without a track record of running risk. Some chance of being an analyst if you network well.
Analyst position at a growing hedge fund where you'll run some risk at least after a few years (or have something to call your own picks/ideas). If you're in a hot area where aum is growing rapidly you'll get snapped up.
