Pros and Cons of Pre-MBA VC associate?

Recently offered a pre-mba position at a tech VC shop in the Bay Area after ~2 years as a non-IB front office BB analyst. Interested in what the pros and cons are of working as a VC pre-MBA associate are? How easy is it to eventually want to return to the East Coast/NYC? How easy is to to move laterally within VC (or growth equity)? If I end up going the MBA route what do people usually recruit for post-MBA?

Additionally, what would you consider to be the "top" tech VCs in the Bay Area?
