Psychometric Assessments -- Asking for Adjustments?! (London SA Recruiting)

Monkeys,

I am in the process of applying for SA positions in London at the moment. I have what I'd consider to be a strong resume (5 A*s at A Level, Top Target school, relevant experience, good ECs), I know my technicals well, and I consider myself to be quite a likeable and articulate person who should have no problem interviewing.

The one area where I seem to trip up, however, are the Psychometric Assessments. I ordinarily receive extra time for these sorts of exams due to a documented learning difficulty. I'm scared, though, that by reporting this learning difficulty, I'd been seen as a 'retard' by HR and might be dinged for it. That said, I've already messed up a test or two and expect to be dinged as a result of that. At best, I can perform above-average in these tests (eg. for MS I got "much easier" and "as easy").

So, my question is what'd be considered more risky: performing average, or at best above-average, in these online tests, or have HR know I have a learning disability (think: dyslexia/ dyspraxia that doesn't really affect my day-to-day)?

Thanks,

I do not personally believe that “learning disorders” like dyslexia are real - to me this is just for retarded people who are in denial that they are retarded.

But yeah they are obviously not going to ding you for asking for extra time.

Thanks for the insight. The thing which I (and others with learning disorders) suffer from is just being a little bit slower at processing information at first sight; I would say intelligence consists more in being rigorous at thinking, being able to spot things others don't, and having creative insights -- not processing something in 5 seconds instead of 10. But your comment is fair haha.

Not sure if the person who MS'd you did it because they disagree with your stance on learning disorders or the advice on the asking for extra time?

I mean if someone is dumber than someone else, then we do not make the exam easier just so that they can pass. I don’t personally see why it should be different for those who take a bit longer to process information.

Think it’s the other poster in this thread who is upset that you get extra time and he doesn’t. I would not worry about it - loads of people do this and get ACs.

Stop trying to find an excuse for why you cannot pass test, just practice like everyone else and stop feeling sorry for yourself

Considering you got 5A*s and in to a "top target",  it's hard to believe that this "learning disorder" is really holding you back

Something to consider as HR might think the same
